National Parks Free Admission Week Starts Saturday!

Visit the deepest lake in the United States (Crater Lake) for free this weekend! It’s free admission week for all National Parks in the country. This runs from April 16 to April 24 – what a great way to celebrate Earth Day (April 22!) And if you don’t want to drive all day there’s also Lewis and Clark National Historic Park right in Astoria.

Here’s some National Parks Service Trivia to quiz your family!

NPS established: August 25, 1916

President at the time: Woodrow Wilson

First National Park: Yellowstone (Wyoming, Montana and Idaho, est. 1872)

Newest National Park: Pinnacles (California, est. 2013)

State with the most NPs: California (9)

The four largest NPs are all located in: Alaska

NP with the most visitors per year: Great Smoky Mountains
