This Saturday at Mt. Tabor Park is one of my favorite events of the year. Artists and engineers and tinkerers with a fearless streak construct soap box cars and race them down the mountain. There are two categories: Science and Art. Or rather, speed and spectacle. Bring your kids and marvel at the velocities reached careening down the twisty Tabor roads. (From a distance…there have been crashes.) And if you do bring your kids, just a heads up: Not every car in the Art category is family friendly. (I’ve seen some inspired by various … body parts.) The organizers advise leaving pets at home due to the large crowds. Expect sweltering temps, crazy costumes and a really fun day!
