October starts this weekend which means Halloween starts this weekend! And that means it’s time for brave souls to venture out to the scary movies! Our local drafthouses on the east side do a pretty great job catering to fright-seekers in October so here’s the weekend lineup:
-The Laurelhurst Theater’s offering is 1973’s “Wickerman” which is a truly terrifying tale of a detective traveling to a small island in search of a missing girl. Nick Cage was in a bad remake but the original is truly one of the horror greats.
-The Academy Theater in Montavilla will be screening John Carpenter’s “The Thing”(1982). Strange, scary things begin happening to scientists doing research on the South Pole! And this is the only Carpenter movie with an Ennio Morricone score. (The most talented and prolific film-scorer of all time!)
